I don’t know about you, but here in New York it seems that winter has come awfully early! With snow in our very recent memory, I have started to see the usual sea of black coats on the street.  However, amidst all of the black, I am seeing lots of winter accessories that give outfits personality and unique style- especially scarves! Scarves are really a cold-weather essential, plus they are an easy way to add a pop of color or add that last piece for a polished look.

You know you’re going to be getting a lot of mileage out of these scarves, so why not make them investment pieces? A few gorgeous scarves plus one fabulous coat, and you’re set for the season. Here are some scarf ideas for some everyday luxury you can warm up to this fall and winter!

Printed Scarves: Printed scarves are a wonderful way to add texture and graphic interest to an understated outfit. Look for silk, cashmere, or merino blends and avoid synthetic fibers because they will not be as warm, have a tendency to pill, and have a shorter life cycle.  One hundred percent silk scarves and linen are wonderful, but will not be as warm for the winter months.

Fur: Fur mufflers, collars, and wraps add a touch of glam to any look, be it daytime or nighttime.  This season furs in jewel tones were present all over the runway. Recreate your own runway-inspired look with a luxe aubergine fur collar or teal fur stole.  Or, keep it classic in gorgeous neutral hues.

Cashmere: Cashmere is a perennial favorite and anyone’s best friend on a cold day.  Although cashmere is offered today at a wide range of prices, if you’re going for cashmere, try to get the best quality you can afford. Inexpensive cashmere does pill and will wear thin after a few short seasons, and a classic solid cashmere scarf of excellent quality will last you forever.

Whatever accessory you choose this fall and winter, invest in luxury you can wrap yourself in every day!
